Minnesoter

Flew into Minneapolis then onto St. Cloud. I ate something bad that morning though I only had a banana and some blueberry pancakes. Tossed and turned the whole way, even passing up a meal. Got to town and my mom had made a pot roast with potatoes and carrots. I couldn't stomach it and went to bed, sleeping for 14 hours.

The next day I went for a walk in Wilson Park across the street. It was beautiful and there was no one around. It was sad taking a final walk, most likely, never to see the stomping grounds of my youth again. It's too bad really, the place is so pure and untainted.

I needed to get out of the house and walk around but it was dark. I had my mom take me to the mall, and surprisingly, found some natty threads. I went home and watched the OC season primere.

Friday I went to Minneapolis but got to town late. I met my friend Lee (Clarence Leroy Thrun) in a coffeeshop then went back to his place. We chitchatted, watched an episode of "Strangers With Candy" for awhile then headed down to the 400 club bar to see the Brian Jonestown Massacre who I've been into lately. The door guy checked my ID and everything then I took about three steps and turned around. He looked at me with the same confused recognition. It turned out we had known each other 15 years ago. Shit. I'm too young to have that kind of time frame separate events and people. This was Tim from Eden Valley-Watkins, whom Lee and I both asked after different girls and their whereabouts. The only place in that town is a farm implements dealer and VFW of which a band I had played a couple shows to the local disenfranchised youth back in the late 80s. Before the show another person approached me, it was Travis, one of a crew who had moved from Brainerd Minnesota to St. Cloud in the early 90s I was friends with. It turns out he has been the road manager of the Brian Jonestown Massace for the past 6 1/2 years. After the show Lee and I split and went back to his place where he clued me into a few episodes of the Dave Chapelle Show. I crashed out while Lee stayed up playing a video game and listening to talk radio.

The next morning I left Minneapolis, but I left with a strong feeling of sadness. It turned out to be a sunny, beautiful day and I drove around past the grocery co-op and an area with record and thrift stores a-pleanty, and cafes and got choked up thinking how cool the place is and how I wished it never got cold or snowed and I'd live in the place in a second. There's a certain vibe to the place that is unique that I wished I could be apart of. Perhaps I was a part of it years ago and I was merely longing for it in a nostalgic way, I don't know. I just gotta say that Minneapolis from 90 to 95 has some pretty cool memories for me and I didn't even live there!
